Greetings Home Group Shepherds,
For many years, Diane and I had only a black and white television someone gave to us. (And, yes, it had rabbit ears!) The picture quality was adequate unless someone lowered the “contrast.” Without the contrast, there was little distinction and we couldn’t discern the figures. With contrast restored, we would say, “Ah, now I can see it.”
Do you think the world sees us? Do we look distinct to the world? As we are studying the Scriptures, we see that the church should always be in sharp contrast. In the book of Acts, the church was accepting everyone, generous and caring for one another, passionate about Jesus and His mission, and willing to suffer for His sake.
What turned up the contrast? They fully believed in the resurrection and that this life is not their best life. They fully trusted in Jesus’ promise that the Holy Spirit would empower them to be His witness and continue His mission. They turned over the reins of their lives to the One who has all authority in heaven and on earth.
May our Father help us live and love like Jesus.
